New York: An 11-year-old boy tragically died on Monday after being found unconscious with a shoelace around his neck at a migrant shelter on New York’s Upper West Side. The authorities discovered the unresponsive child in the lobby of the Stratford Arms Hotel around 5 pm, a facility that houses migrant families, as reported by the New York Post.
The boy, who had a shoelace around his neck, was swiftly rushed to Roosevelt Hospital, where he was declared as dead. The cause of death remains unknown and the investigation is going on into the incident.
It’s noteworthy that the hotel on West 70th Street transitioned from accommodating single asylum seekers to making room for migrant families in September. This tragic event adds a sombre layer to the complex circumstances surrounding the shelter’s operations.
