6.5 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Japan’s Bonin Islands

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 503.2 km (312.7 miles). Despite the significant magnitude, there were no immediate reports of major damage or casualties.

The US National Tsunami Warning Center quickly assessed the situation and confirmed that no tsunami warning was warranted based on the available data. This timely response helped alleviate concerns among residents and minimized the potential for panic or further disruption in the affected area.
