Actor Randeep Hooda likely to contest Lok Sabha Elections form Rohtak

Sources within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have suggested that actor Randeep Hooda is being considered as a potential candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the Rohtak constituency. It is rumored that Hooda, known for his acting career, is contemplating a move into politics by running for a seat in the Lok Sabha. The Rohtak constituency, situated in Haryana, is reportedly being eyed as his potential electoral arena.

The Rohtak Lok Sabha seat is presently under the control of the BJP, with Arvind Sharma serving as the Member of Parliament. In the 2019 elections, Sharma clinched victory over Congress’ Deepender Hooda, securing more than 47% of the votes with a total of 573,845 votes.

Rohtak, a district in Haryana, is considered the stronghold of former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Traditionally dominated by the Jat community, the Rohtak seat was previously held by the Congress party. Both Deepender Hooda and Bhupinder Hooda have represented this constituency in the Lok Sabha. It is anticipated that Congress may nominate Deepender Hooda as its candidate for Rohtak, banking on significant support from the constituency.

Despite Congress’ historical influence in Rohtak, the BJP has made significant strides in Haryana, holding all 10 seats in the state in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The coalition government of BJP and JJP currently governs Haryana. The BJP’s success in securing all seats, including Rohtak, in 2019 indicates its dominance in the region. Winning the Rohtak seat again would reinforce BJP’s position and serve as a message to the public that traditional strongholds like those of the Hooda family are not invulnerable.
