Several major schools in Kanpur were disrupted on Wednesday as they received bomb threats via email, causing widespread panic. This incident is part of a recent trend, with similar threats targeting establishments in cities such as Bengaluru, Delhi, and Ahmedabad in recent weeks. Police are actively investigating the situation and have imposed restrictions on accessing the schools as a precautionary measure.
In a worrying development, both Jaipur and Lucknow faced a wave of bomb threats on Monday, prompting the rapid evacuation of students and staff from multiple schools. In Jaipur alone, approximately four schools reported receiving bomb threats, while in Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar area, at least three schools were targeted.
This surge in bomb threats via email highlights a growing concern nationwide. Earlier this month, over 150 schools in the Delhi-NCR region were subjected to similar threats, indicating a disturbing pattern. Furthermore, on Sunday, several hospitals in the city and the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi were also threatened with bombings.
Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph confirmed the receipt of bomb threats by several schools in the city, with police actively working to trace the sender of the threatening emails.
