Ajit Pawar Wins Legal Relief as Delhi Tribunal Orders Release of Seized Assets

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has received significant support following a court ruling in the Benami property case. The Benami Tribunal in Delhi has ordered the Income Tax Department to release his seized assets.

Ajit Pawar, a day after taking the oath as Deputy Chief Minister in the Maharashtra Mahayuti government, has found relief in the legal matter. The Benami Property Tribunal directed the Income Tax Department to return his properties, which were seized in 2021 as part of an unknown asset investigation.

In 2021, the Income Tax Department attached the assets of Ajit Pawar, his son Parth Pawar, and his wife Sumitra Pawar. They had seized documents during raids on various companies, claiming they were linked to benami transactions. However, the Benami Diagnostics Appellate Tribunal rejected the allegations. The Income Tax Department appealed against the tribunal’s decision.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra has once again witnessed the formation of a BJP-led Mahayuti government, with senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis sworn in as Chief Minister, and Ajit Pawar along with Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde taking oath as Deputy Chief Ministers.
