This morning, a Bengali devotee injured a JTP at the temple’s bell door. The Singhdwar police station has received complaints, and authorities have detained both the JTP and the Bengali tourists for investigation.
The Srimandi administration and district authorities had decided that only devotees could enter the temple through the bell door. However, some Bengali pilgrims attempted to enter through this gate. JTP Gupteshwar Rautharai, stationed at the Ghantidwar, stopped them, but the Bengali tourists ignored his instructions and tried to force their way in. This resulted in an argument.
The situation escalated when, according to the complaint, the Bengali tourists attacked Gupteshwar in anger, injuring him severely. Authorities rescued him and rushed him to the hospital. He later filed a written complaint at the Singhdwar police station. On the other hand, the Bengali devotees accused the JTP of misbehaving with them. The police are investigating the incident based on both sides’ complaints.
The Bengali devotees claimed that Gupteshwar had abused them as they tried to enter through the bell gate. They also alleged that taking advantage of the crowd, the JTP slapped some people. In defence, the Bengali tourists who attacked Gupteshwar later filed their complaint. The police are investigating the incident based on the complaints from both sides.
