
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled its third list of Lok Sabha contenders on Thursday. Among the prominent names, former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan will vie for the elections in Chennai South. Additionally, notable figures like Union Minister L Murugan will compete in Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai in Coimbatore, and former union minister Pon Radhakrishnan in Kanyakumari.
Other candidates announced by the party include Vinoj P Selvam for Chennai Central, A C Shanmugam for Vellore, C Narasimhan for Krishnagiri, and Nainar Nagendran for Tirunelveli, showcasing a diverse slate for the upcoming polls.
The electoral showdown in Tamil Nadu’s 39 Lok Sabha constituencies is slated for the initial phase on April 19. Notably, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP failed to secure a single seat from the state.
Earlier, the saffron party disclosed a second list featuring 72 candidates, which encompassed prominent leaders such as Union ministers Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal, and Anurag Singh Thakur, along with former chief ministers Manohar Lal Khattar, Trivendra Singh Rawat, and Basavaraj Bommai.
Furthermore, BJP chief spokesperson and Rajya Sabha member Anil Baluni emerged as a candidate from Garhwal in Uttarakhand.
In a comprehensive announcement, BJP national general secretary Vinod Tawade outlined the first list of candidates, covering various states and territories, including Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Kerala, Telangana, Assam, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Tripura, Andaman and Nicobar, and Daman and Diu.
