BJP leader Manmohan Samal gives clarity over BJP-BJD alliance

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha has resolved the prolonged speculation regarding a potential alliance with the Biju Janata Dal (BJD). State President Manmohan Samal declared on Friday that the BJP would independently contest both the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Samal conveyed this decision through a social media platform, emphasizing the party’s commitment to contesting all 21 Lok Sabha and 147 Assembly seats in Odisha. He underscored the objective of fostering a developed India and Odisha under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Acknowledging the BJD’s decade-long support for the Modi government on various national issues, Samal expressed gratitude. However, he pointed out discrepancies in the implementation of central welfare schemes in Odisha, leading to the deprivation of benefits for the state’s residents. Samal attributed this to the failure to effectively deliver schemes to the grassroots level. Consequently, he cited disagreements with the state government on matters concerning Odia pride, the state’s prestige, and the welfare of its people.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan echoed Samal’s announcement, reiterating the BJP’s decision to contest all seats independently in Odisha. Additionally, Member of Parliament Aparajita Sarangi responded positively to the news, expressing gratitude and support through social media.
