BJP Releases Seventh Candidate List for 2024 Elections

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled its seventh candidate roster for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, spotlighting contenders from Maharashtra’s Amravati and Karnataka’s Chitradurga constituencies. Navneet Rana emerges as the candidate for the Amravati Lok Sabha reserved (SC) seat in Maharashtra, having previously secured victory as an independent supported by the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in the 2019 elections. Her opponent in that race, Anandrao Adsul of the Shiv Sena, was defeated. Meanwhile, Govind Karjol, former deputy chief minister of Karnataka, is slated to represent the Chitradurga reserved constituency (SC) in the upcoming polls. This follows BJP leader A Narayanaswamy’s triumph in the Chitradurga parliamentary seat during the 2019 general election.

Beyond the announcement of candidates for Amravati and Chitradurga, the BJP also divulged a lineup of 10 contenders for the forthcoming Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections and the Haryana bypoll. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has been nominated to contest the Karnal Assembly seat, which became vacant after former chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s resignation. Saini recently assumed the role of Haryana’s chief minister, succeeding Khattar earlier in the month.

Turning attention to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, the BJP unveiled a slate of 10 candidates, including N Eswara Rao for Etcherla, P Vishnu Kumar Raju for Visakhapatnam North, Pangi Rajarao for Araku Valley, M Shiva Krishnam Raju for Anaparthy, Kamineni Srinivas Rao for Kaikalur, and Y.S. Chowdary for Vijaywada West. Additionally, the party named Bojja Roshanna for Badvel, C Adinarayana Reddy for Jammalamadugu, P.V. Parthasarathi for Adoni, and Y. Satya Kumar for Dharmavaram.

In Chhattisgarh, the BJP unveiled its list of 40-star campaigners, featuring luminaries such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP chief JP Nadda, and Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah. Notable figures including Union ministers Nitin Gadkari, Smriti Irani, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Arjun Munda were also listed. Chief ministers Yogi Adityanath, Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Mohan Yadav of Uttar Pradesh, Assam, and Madhya Pradesh respectively, alongside former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, are set to energize campaign efforts.
