BJP Slams Hindenburg Report as Anti-India Conspiracy

In a press conference today, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad condemned the recent report by Hindenburg Research, an American short-selling firm, which targets SEBI Chief Madhabi Puri Buch and the Adani Group. Prasad labeled the report as part of a broader conspiracy against India, orchestrated by the Congress party and the Indy alliance.

According to Prasad, the timing of Hindenburg’s report is suspicious. Released on a Saturday and followed by market turbulence on Sunday, he claimed the aim is to destabilize the Indian capital market ahead of Monday’s trading.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) had issued a notice to Hindenburg in July after conducting an investigation under the Supreme Court’s jurisdiction. Prasad criticized Hindenburg for not addressing the notice but instead publishing what he described as a baseless report.

Prasad accused Congress of harboring animosity not only toward Prime Minister Modi but also toward the country itself. He warned that instability in the stock market would harm millions of small investors in India. He questioned whether Congress wished to return India to a time when it struggled for basic necessities, implying that the current report and the ensuing market instability were an attempt to undermine the nation’s economic progress.
