Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan sustained multiple stab injuries when a robber broke into his Bandra (West) residence in Mumbai early Thursday morning. The incident occurred around 2:30 am when the intruder attacked Khan, stabbing him multiple times, including a wound dangerously close to his spine.
Reports from Hindi media confirm that the assailant fled immediately after the attack. Police have launched an intense manhunt to apprehend the culprit.
Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital by his staff and family members shortly after the attack. The hospital admitted him at 3:30 am with six injuries, two of which are critical. “One of the injuries is perilously close to his spine,” said Niraj Uttamani, Chief Operating Officer at Lilavati Hospital. Neurosurgeon Dr Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Dr Leena Jain, and anaesthetist Dr Nisha Gandhi perform surgery to assess and address the damage.
Authorities confirmed the attack and shared preliminary details. “An unidentified intruder broke into Saif Ali Khan’s residence and injured him during a scuffle. We are investigating the case and pursuing all leads to apprehend the suspect,” the police stated.
Crime branch and local police teams are piecing together evidence from Khan’s residence to identify how the intruder gained access and any motives behind this violent act. The police filed a First Information Report and formed dedicated teams to trace the assailant.
