The constable recruitment exam for the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) – CRPF, BSF, and CISF – is set to provide equal employment opportunities to youths across the nation by being conducted in 13 regional languages alongside Hindi and English, marking a significant first. Scheduled from February 20 to March 7, the examination will take place in 128 cities nationwide, with an estimated 48 lakh candidates anticipated to participate, as per official statements.
This decision, effective January 1, 2024, by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), aims to foster greater engagement of local youth in CAPFs, thereby enhancing their chances of selection while promoting the use of regional languages. Described as a ‘historic decision,’ the move seeks to bolster the involvement of local youths in CAPFs and advocate for the utilization of regional languages.
Question papers are now available in Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Odia, Urdu, Punjabi, Manipuri, and Konkani, alongside Hindi and English, facilitating broader accessibility and inclusivity. The constable exam, a pivotal recruitment test overseen by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), draws numerous applicants from across the nation. To streamline the implementation of this decision, the MHA and SSC have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
