CBI Detains Four AIIMS Patna Students in NEET Paper Leak Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has detained four MBBS students from AIIMS, Patna, in connection with the NEET paper leak case. On Wednesday night, the CBI picked up three third-year students and one second-year student from the 2021 batch. The students have been identified as Chandan Singh, Rahul Anand, Karan Jain, and Kumar Sanu.

The CBI has sealed their rooms and seized their mobile phones and laptops. Based on gathered information, the investigating agency suspects that these students assisted the mafia in preparing answers to the leaked question papers.

Dr. Gopal Krishna Pal, Executive Director of AIIMS Patna, commented on the incident, stating, “No doctor has been arrested in the incident, but four students have been taken for questioning by the CBI team.” He added, “We don’t know how the students are involved in the NEET paper leak case. We cannot say whether they are guilty or not.”

The detained students are from various regions: Chandan Singh is from Siwan, Bihar; Kumar Sanu is from Patna, Bihar; Rahul Anand’s residence is in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, though he lives in Patna; and Karan Jain hails from Araria, Bihar.

This development follows the arrest of Pankaj Kumar, a key suspect in the case, on Tuesday. Pankaj Kumar, a civil engineer from the 2017 batch, was allegedly involved in stealing question papers from the NTA trunk. He was remanded to CBI custody for 14 days by a special court in Patna on Wednesday. Pankaj Kumar’s associate, Raju Singh, has also been apprehended by the CBI in connection with the case .
