Charminar Express Derailment at Nampally Station, six Injured

At approximately 9:15 am on Wednesday, three coaches of the Charminar Express train derailed at Nampally Railway Station in Hyderabad, Telangana, resulting in at least six injuries.

Rakesh, the chief public relations officer of the South Central Railway, confirmed the incident. The Nampally Railway Station, a terminal station, marks the end of train routes, and the Charminar Express should have come to a stop before reaching the station. However, it overshot, leading to the derailment of three coaches—S2, S3, and S6.

Individuals standing near the train doors during the incident suffered minor injuries, and they are currently receiving treatment at the railway hospital, according to Rakesh. The Hyderabad Deccan railway station serves as the train’s final destination, and officials noted that the train was moving at a slow speed when it overshot the last point, triggering the derailment.

The Charminar Express had departed from Chennai on Tuesday evening and had reached Hyderabad before the derailment occurred. An inquiry will be conducted to determine the cause of the incident, as stated by the official.
