China Clinches First Gold at Paris Olympics

China secured the first gold medal of the Paris Olympics in the 10m air rifle mixed category. The Chinese duo, Lihao Sheng and Yuting Huang, clinched the gold by defeating South Korea’s Jihyon Kem and Hajun Park.

Earlier, Kazakhstan earned the first medal of the Paris Games. Shooters Islam Satpayev and Alexandra Le won bronze in the 10m air rifle mixed team event, overcoming Germany’s Maximilian Ulbrich and Anna Janssen in the bronze medal match.

The Indian team did not secure a medal in the shooting events. Arjun Babuta and Ramita Jindal finished sixth in the mixed 10m air rifle qualification round with a combined score of 628.7 points. Another Indian pair, Sandeep Singh and Elavenil Valarivan, placed 12th with 626.3 points.

Indian shooters Manu Bhaker, Rhythm Sangwan, Sarabjot Singh, and Arjun Cheema will compete in the 10m air pistol individual events later in the Games.
