Clash Over Offensive Message Sparks Violence in Murshidabad; Police Regain Control

Communal violence erupted in Murshidabad’s Beldanga area, drawing significant attention to the troubled West Bengal region. Authorities imposed a curfew after clashes broke out between two groups over offensive messages displayed on digital boards. Police arrested 15 people involved in the violence.

According to a police officer, some individuals sustained minor injuries during the clash. To prevent further unrest, authorities suspended internet services in the affected areas. The conflict began after a controversial message appeared on a display board near the Kartik Puja pandal, sparking tension between the groups.

The two groups exchanged stones, vandalized shops and homes, and reportedly used homemade bombs. A group attacked a police vehicle, but law enforcement regained control of the situation. Despite containing the unrest, tension persists in the area.

Meanwhile, BJP has criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her handling of the incident. A Trinamool Congress leader responded, stating that the situation is now under control and the administration is taking swift action against the perpetrators.
