CM Mohan Majhi Sets Record with 2-Hour Budget Speech

Chief Minister Mohan Majhi set a new record in the Assembly on Thursday, delivering a continuous 2-hour and 8-minute budget speech for the financial year 2024-25. This feat surpasses all previous records in the Assembly. Presenting the state budget from 5 pm to 7 pm, CM Majhi, who also holds the Finance Department portfolio, unveiled a comprehensive budget of Rs 2 lakh 65 thousand crore, marking a 15% increase from the previous year.

The Mohan government’s budget prioritizes almost all sectors, with a special focus on the poor, farmers, women, and youth. Notably, all schemes initiated by the previous government have been rebranded, and new ones have been introduced.

  • Rs 10,000 crores allocated for the Subhadra Yojana, providing women with a Rs 50,000 voucher to be used over two years
  • Rs 1162 crores for the Lakpati Didi scheme, aiming to establish 25 lakh women entrepreneurs by 2027
  • Establishment of industrial capital and proper market infrastructure for Self-Help Groups (SHGs)
