The Commissionerate Police have busted a notorious crime syndicate, arresting six accused, including the syndicate head Rashmi. The gang, active since 2014, was involved in a string of serious crimes, including murder, extortion, and arms trafficking. The accused were wanted in connection with two murder cases in Kendrapada and Khurda.
Acting on a tip-off, the Special Squad of the Commissionerate Police conducted a raid and recovered five modern guns from the accused. The syndicate was involved in supplying guns from Bihar to various places in Odisha. The accused were involved in various illicit activities, including sand mafia, contract killings, betel nut killings, and dadabati (extortion).
The Commissionerate Police’s successful operation has dealt a significant blow to the crime syndicate, bringing an end to their reign of terror. The arrest of the syndicate members and recovery of arms will help prevent further criminal activities in the region.
