Congress Reveals Second List of Candidates for 2024 General Elections

The Congress, one of India’s most enduring political parties, has disclosed its second roster of candidates for the eagerly anticipated 2024 general elections. As the electoral fervor escalates nationwide, the unveiling of this candidate lineup represents a pivotal stride for the Congress Party as it strives to regain political foothold and redefine its standing in the country’s political terrain.

This latest compilation, unveiled on Tuesday, encompasses candidates hailing from four states. The announcement was made by K.C. Venugopal, who articulated, “So far, we have already announced our first list of candidates. Today, we are going to announce the second list of candidates. Yesterday, CEC met and cleared the list of 43 names in respect of states like Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan. From these 4 states, we are releasing 43 names today.”

Gaurav Gogoi, the Deputy Leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha, is slated to vie for the Jorhat constituency in Assam. Additionally, Nakul Nath, son of Kamal Nath, is poised for reelection from Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh. Another notable contender, Vaibhav Gehlot, son of former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, is also set to contest from Jalore.

On March 8, 2024, the Congress party unveiled its preliminary roster of candidates spanning eight states and one Union Territory in readiness for the imminent Lok Sabha elections. Particularly noteworthy is the nomination of former party president Rahul Gandhi, who is once again slated to contest from Wayanad in Kerala.
