As the Maharashtra Assembly elections draw near, the Congress Party has taken a tough stance against 22 of its rebel leaders, expelling them for their defiant actions. With voting scheduled for November 20, the party is tightening its ranks, suspending these leaders for six years due to their involvement in anti-party activities.
The expelled leaders, many of whom are well-known figures, have already thrown their hats in the ring, contesting against Congress candidates backed by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance. Among them are former ministers Rajendra Mulk from Ramtek, Yazhinvalk Jichkar from Katol, Kamal Bhavadre from Kasba, Manoj Sinde from Kopri Pachapkhandi, and Aba Bagul from Parvati, all of whom have decided to take on their former party.
The disciplinary action, led by Ramesh Chennithala of the All India Congress Committee, comes as part of the party’s effort to maintain unity and discipline during this crucial election period. With tensions running high, Congress aims to send a clear message that rebellion will come at a cost.
