Controversy Erupts Over Kangana Ranaut’s Past Statement

Bollywood actor and BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate for the Mandi seat in Himachal Pradesh, Kangana Ranaut, was accused by Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar on Friday of having admitted to eating beef in the past. He highlighted Ranaut’s previous statement made on X (formerly Twitter) where she expressed her fondness for beef.

Since joining the BJP, Kangana Ranaut has been targeting the Congress party and its leader Rahul Gandhi. Even prior to her political affiliation, Ranaut had been known for her pro-Hindu comments. Reacting to Wadettiwar’s accusation, BJP spokesperson Keshav Upadhye condemned the Congress, labeling it as having a “dirty culture” and lacking substantive arguments.

Joining the fray, BJP leader Shaina NC criticized the Congress for being “anti-women,” citing a post by party leader Supriya Shrinate about Kangana Ranaut and MP Randeep Surjewala’s alleged disparaging remarks about Hema Malini. Shaina NC emphasized that the response to Congress’s alleged anti-women stance would be evident in the upcoming elections on June 4.

The controversy ignited widespread attention when an offensive post targeting Kangana Ranaut surfaced on Shrinate’s Instagram account shortly after Ranaut’s announcement as a Lok Sabha candidate for the BJP. This incident coincided with the emergence of a video allegedly showing Randeep Surjewala making derogatory comments about Hema Malini, prompting backlash from the BJP.
