Controversy Over Alleged Comment on Kangana Ranaut by Supriya Shrinate

Bharatiya Janata Party leaders Shehzad Poonawalla and Amit Malviya criticized Supriya Shrinate for a comment allegedly made from her account about actor Kangana Ranaut, demanding her immediate dismissal from the Congress party. Kangana Ranaut, BJP’s candidate from Mandi Lok Sabha seat, responded, asserting that every woman deserves dignity, irrespective of their profession or roles they play in movies.

In her post, Ranaut highlighted the diverse roles she has portrayed in her career and emphasized the importance of freeing women from societal prejudices. She called for respect for every woman’s dignity and urged people to refrain from using derogatory language or stereotypes, especially concerning sex workers.

Amit Malviya, BJP’s national information and technology department head, called Shrinate’s comment obnoxious and called for stern action from Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. Shehzad Poonawalla echoed similar sentiments, labeling Shrinate’s comments as despicable and questioning Congress’s stance on the matter.

Poonawalla also criticized Congress for its alleged attacks on various forms of empowerment, from political to societal, suggesting a pattern of derogatory behavior towards women and other societal pillars.

Amidst the controversy, Supriya Shrinate posted a clarification, stating that someone had unauthorized access to her social media accounts and posted the offensive comment. She denied making such remarks and mentioned the existence of a parody account misusing her name on Twitter.

Following her declaration as a BJP candidate, Kangana Ranaut expressed gratitude to party leaders for the opportunity to contest elections, concluding the series of events surrounding the controversy.
