The Himachal Pradesh High Court has issued a notice to Kangana Ranaut, BJP MP and Bollywood actress, challenging her election victory from the Mandi Lok Sabha seat. Laik Ram Negi, a former Forest Department employee and resident of Kinnar, has filed a petition against Ranaut, alleging that the Mandi Election Officer wrongly rejected his nomination paper. Negi claims he would have won the election if his nomination had been accepted.
Negi is demanding fresh elections from the Mandi Lok Sabha seat, citing irregularities in the electoral process. The High Court has ordered Ranaut to respond to the notice by August 21, putting her election victory and MP status under scrutiny.
Ranaut, who made her political debut in the current Lok Sabha elections, won the Mandi seat on a BJP ticket, defeating Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh by 74,755 votes. This development raises questions about the validity of Ranaut’s election and her continuation as the Member Of Parliament .
