Early Heatwave Hits Odisha: Daytime Temperatures Soar Above 35°C in February

Odisha is currently encountering summer-like temperatures during February, with daytime temperatures escalating across various regions of the state. Many areas in Odisha are now experiencing daytime temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius.

Over the next few days, it is expected that daily temperatures will continue to climb by two to three degrees Celsius, indicating substantial weather changes in the region. This trend is likely to persist in Odisha.

On Tuesday, Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha, recorded the highest daytime temperature at 37 degrees Celsius, while Boudh city registered a similarly high temperature of 36 degrees Celsius. Additionally, in the past 24 hours, 15 other cities have reported temperatures surpassing 35 degrees Celsius.

Cities such as Bhawanipatna, Jharsuguda, and Paralakhemundi recorded daily temperatures of 35.6 degrees Celsius, while Titlagarh, Balangir, Angul, Nayagarh, and Jagatsinghpur registered temperatures at 35.5 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, Bhadrak, Malkangiri, Talcher, Chandbali, and Balasore saw temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius.

The ingress of moist air into the state, influenced by a prevailing high-pressure system, has led to notable weather changes in Odisha. Consequently, nighttime temperatures have risen by two to three degrees Celsius in many parts of the state. Forecasts from the regional meteorological department indicate the possibility of slight to moderate rainfall in certain areas of the state within the next 24 hours.
