ED Raids 19 Locations in Fake Ayushman Bharat Card Scam

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched a significant crackdown on fraudulent Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) ID cards, conducting raids at 19 locations across Delhi, Chandigarh, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh. The operation, which includes searches in Kangra, Una, Shimla, Mandi, and Kullu, targets those implicated in exploiting the scheme for financial gain.

Among the key figures under scrutiny are Congress MLA RS Bali, who serves as the Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, and Dr. Rajesh Sharma, a Congress leader and owner of Shri Balaji Hospital in Kangra. The ED’s investigation has led to raids on prominent private hospitals, including Fortis Hospital and Sri Balaji Hospital, where fake medical bills have reportedly been issued, causing substantial losses to the public exchequer.

The ongoing probe has intensified in Himachal Pradesh, with three major hospitals in Kangra—the Fartis Hospital, Sri Balaji Hospital, and City Hospital—being searched. The investigation is reportedly expanding, with several political figures and healthcare facilities coming under the ED’s scrutiny. The presence of ED officers and CRPF personnel at these locations indicates the seriousness of the probe into the misuse of the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
