Election Commission Acts on Socialist Party’s Complaint, Suspends Kanpur Officer

The Election Commission of India has taken decisive action to address issues during the Uttar Pradesh by-elections. Acting on allegations from the Socialist Party that certain communities were barred from voting, Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar directed the CEO of UP and all District Election Officers (DEOs) and Returning Officers (ROs) to ensure a smooth and transparent voting process.

The EC instructed officials to investigate all complaints immediately, take necessary action, and update complainants through social media. “We will not tolerate any bias,” the EC warned, promising strict action against anyone found guilty.

The Commission also issued clear orders to the police and general observers in all nine districts to maintain strict vigilance and guarantee peaceful, impartial voting.

In Kanpur, the EC responded to Akhilesh Jadhav’s complaint by suspending the concerned police officer. Police confirmed taking similar actions against officers who violated EC directives by interfering with voter verification or obstructing voters.

The Election Commission reaffirmed its commitment to upholding fairness and integrity in the election process.
