Eradicate pollution, save the life

As we all know, now pollution is a biggest threat to our nation. So, the National Pollution Control Day or National Pollution Prevention Day is observed every year on 2nd December. The objective of the day is to raise awareness about the different measures to control pollution and the prevention of industrial disasters which is now really necessary for our country. National Pollution Control Day is especially observed in the memory of people who died in the Bhopal gas tragedy of 1984.

History :
National Pollution Control Day was established to commemorate the tragic events of 2nd December 1984, when a deadly gas, methyl isocyanate, leaked from Union Carbide India Limited’s pesticide facility in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The incident resulted in thousands of immediate casualties (reaching approximately 3,700 deaths with over 5 lakh people being exposed to the toxic gas) and long-term health effects for many survivors. Ever since, December 2 has been designated as National Pollution Control Day to raise awareness about how industrial disasters can be prevented and pollution can be controlled to prevent such disasters and protect public health.

Objective:
Pollution is really harmful for the humans, animals as well as plants. Every year, National Pollution Control Day is celebrated to create more awareness about being mindful and aware about the pollution and to find ways to reduce pollution and reverse the harmful changes in our environment.

Theme of National Pollution Control Day 2023:
The theme for National Pollution Control Day 2023 is “Sustainable Development for a Clean and Healthy Planet”.
