Today, the Shri Mandir administration has geared up for the grand finale of Niladribije, the Lord’s fall journey, with the Nilamani returning to Nilakandara. The Chaturdha Vigraha’s descent from the chariot marks the culmination of the festival, attracting a large gathering of devotees.
In preparation for the event, the chief administrator of Shri Mandir has held discussions with savayat to streamline all policies and ensure a smooth observance of the Mahaprabhu’s schedule. The evening ceremony will commence with the tying of the Chalarmala and incense, followed by Puspanjali at 3:50 p.m. and Pahandi at 4:00 p.m. The festivities are scheduled to conclude by 10:00 p.m.
This day holds special significance, coinciding with Rasagola Day, a traditional celebration where the Lord offers raspberries to Mother Lakshmi at the Lion’s Gate. This ritual, steeped in tradition, is a significant part of Jagannath culture, and people across Odisha are preparing rasagola at home or purchasing it from shops to offer to the Lord.
To ensure the safety of devotees, security measures have been tightened around the temple. The Shri Mandir administration has made elaborate arrangements to facilitate the large gathering of devotees expected to witness this final festival of proclamation.
Various locations across Odisha are hosting special programs to celebrate Rasgola Day. The tradition of offering raspberries to appease Mother Kamala has been practiced for centuries and is even mentioned in the Madala Panji. Devotees are eagerly participating in the celebrations, continuing a long-standing tradition within Jagannath culture.
