First solar eclipse of 2024: know details….

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly between the Earth and the Sun, obscuring the Sun’s light. According to Dr. Ganesh Mishra, an astrologer from the Central Sanskrit University in Puri, the first solar eclipse of 2024 will be visible on Chaitra Amavasya, April 8, Monday. The Chaitra Amavasya period will extend from 03:21 AM to 11:50 PM, with the solar eclipse beginning at 09:12 PM and ending at 01:25 AM.

Dr. Ganesh explains that eclipses are believed to be caused by shadowy demons, Rahu and Ketu, who were once part of a divine serpent in Hindu Astrology. Sutak, an inauspicious time occurring 12 hours before the solar eclipse, marks a period when all auspicious activities are halted. The Sutak concludes with the end of the solar eclipse. Notably, this astronomical phenomenon will not be visible in India, resulting in the absence of a Sutak period.

Dr. Ganesh emphasizes that, according to astrology, the Sutak period is observed only in areas where a solar or lunar eclipse is visible. The first solar eclipse of 2024 will be entirely visible in 13 states of the United States, as well as in Canada, Mexico, South-West Europe, Australia, West Asia, South America, and North America. It will also be observable in the Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, North Pole, South Pole, and the North West region of England and Ireland.

During a solar eclipse, it is suggested to remember one’s deity and meditate. The Art of Living’s website recommends acknowledging the mind’s connection with the moon and the body’s connection with the Earth. Chanting the deity’s name or mantras is advised. After the solar eclipse concludes, it is customary to clean the house, take a bath, wear clean clothes, and donate wheat and jaggery to the underprivileged.
