Forest Officials Rescue Trapped Tribal Family

In a daring rescue operation that has won hearts across the state, forest officials successfully rescued a tribal family, including four young children, who were trapped in a cave due to a landslide in Wayanad. The arduous rescue mission, which lasted over four and a half hours, involved navigating treacherous terrain and overcoming numerous challenges.

A four-member team led by Kalpetta Range Forest Officer K. Hasheesh undertook the perilous journey to reach the stranded family, who belong to the Paniya tribe. The family, dependent on forest produce for their livelihood, had been cut off from the outside world due to the landslide. The children, aged between one and four, were particularly vulnerable to the harsh conditions. The rescue team displayed remarkable courage and determination, carrying the children to safety through the challenging forest environment.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has lauded the heroic efforts of the forest officials, hailing their actions as an example of the state’s resilience in the face of adversity. The rescued family is currently under care at the Attmala office, where they are being provided with essential needs.
