Google has launched its innovative Gemini app for Android users in India, aiming to enhance user experience through advanced AI-powered chatbot features. While iOS users anticipate a dedicated app, Google has integrated Gemini into the existing Google app, offering access via a convenient toggle for iPhone users.
The Gemini app, initially introduced in the United States on February 8, is now expanding globally to over 150 countries and territories, including India. Users can engage with Gemini in English, Korean, and Japanese, with plans for additional language support in the future. The app requires a minimum of 4GB RAM and is optimized for Android 12 and newer versions for optimal performance.
For iOS users, while a standalone Gemini app is awaited, they can seamlessly utilize its AI capabilities through the Google app. A newly added toggle within the Google app grants access to Gemini’s chatbot features on devices running iOS 16 and newer versions, with language support limited to English, Japanese, and Korean.
Accessing Gemini’s features requires users to be signed in to a personal Google Account or a Workspace account with enabled features. The global rollout is underway, with availability expected across all regions soon. Google’s Senior Director of Product, Jack Krawczyk, announced a relaxation in Gemini’s restrictions on image uploading and generation, promising ongoing enhancements for users.
In response to user concerns about feature clarity, Krawczyk highlighted efforts to differentiate between work-in-progress and available Assistant features, demonstrating Google’s commitment to refining the Gemini experience for its diverse user base.
