Govt. to roll out cashless medical facilities for road accident victims

Road accidents are increasing rapidly across the country. As per the information, about 15 million people die in road accidents every year. However, the number of road accidents in India every year is equal to the population of Estonia in Europe. But many people are dying due to lack of treatment after such kind of accident.

However, now Prime Minister Narendra Modi is bringing a new plan to reduce this number. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has introduced cashless scheme for accident victims. It has been announced that these injured people can be treated in every hospital of the country. However, in the next 3-4 months, this plan will be implemented.

Transport Secretary Anurag Jain said that the number of people who die in road accidents in India is the highest in the world. To reduce this, the government has prepared a plan to provide medical care to the patients as soon as possible.

Then Anurag said that according to the amended Motor Vehicle Act 2019, free and cashless facilities will be provided to those injured in road accidents. While this rule has been implemented in some states, now the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare along with the Ministry of Road Transport is planning to implement it across the country. 1 hour post-accident recovery is critical to save the life of an accident victim. Hence it is also called as ‘Golden Hour’ in the medical field.

To reduce the number of road accidents, education and awareness are also being arranged by the Ministry. Along with this, the Ministry of Education has agreed to include road safety in the syllabus of schools and colleges, said Road Transport Secretary Anurag Jain.
