Half-Day Closure of Central Government Offices on January 22 for Ram Temple Consecration Celebrations

Union Minister Jitendra Singh announced that all central government offices will observe a half-day closure on January 22 in honor of the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The decision, driven by overwhelming sentiments, is in line with the celebration of the Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha across India. An official order directed all central government ministries and departments to close their offices until 14:30 hours on January 22, 2024.

The significant pran-pratishtha ceremony of the Ram Temple is scheduled for 12:30 pm on January 22, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and various dignitaries in attendance. The temple rituals commenced on January 16, a week before the main event, with specific ceremonies each day leading up to the pran-pratishtha.

Recognizing the cultural and historical significance of the event, the Bar Council of India penned a letter to Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, urging the grant of a holiday on January 22. The inauguration of the Shri Ram Mandir is viewed as a monumental occasion, concluding a long-awaited dream and pivotal legal proceedings.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Modi released commemorative postage stamps depicting the history and moments surrounding the opening of the Ram Temple. The idol of Lord Ram arrived at the temple complex on the second day of pre-consecration rituals, stored in the sanctum sanctorum. Thursday’s rituals included the cleansing of the idol with water in the ‘Jaladhivas’ ritual, along with ‘Ganesh Pujan’ and ‘Varun Pujan.’
