On Monday, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris officially launched her presidential campaign, delivering a fiery speech aimed directly at former President Donald Trump. This marks Harris’s first address to campaign workers following President Joe Biden’s announcement on Sunday that he will not seek re-election.
Speaking at the campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware, Harris outlined her strategy against Trump, drawing on her experience as California’s chief prosecutor. “I have faced all types of criminals—predators who abuse women, fraudsters who cheat consumers, and cheaters who break rules for their own benefit,” Harris said. “So listen to me carefully when I say that I know Donald Trump’s type.”
Her remarks highlighted the contrast between her legal background and Trump’s extensive legal issues. Trump has recently been ordered to pay millions in fines by a civil court and was found guilty of 34 serious crimes, including sexual abuse and business record tampering, in Manhattan. “This election campaign is not just about us versus Donald Trump but much more than that,” Harris continued. “Our campaign has always been about two different versions of the future of our country.”
