Huge Cache of Cash and Arms Uncovered in Chhattisgarh

In a joint operation, Chhattisgarh Police and SRPF personnel unearthed a substantial cache of cash and weapons buried by Naxals in the Gobra and Pendra forests of Chhattisgarh. The operation, conducted in response to intelligence about Naxal activities in the area, led to the discovery of approximately 38 lakh rupees and a significant stockpile of weaponry.

The search, which was aided by a metal detector, resulted in the digging of a 10-foot-deep pit. Inside, authorities found 38 lakh rupees concealed in 6 bundles of old 2000-rupee notes and 52 bundles of new 500-rupee notes. In addition to the cash, the operation yielded 23 BGLs, 2 tin bombs, 13 detonators, a bundle of fuse wire, 2 kilos of loose ammunition, a sensor remote, electric wire, Naxal uniforms, and bomb-making materials.

The seized items were reportedly hidden by the Odisha State Committee of the Dhanantari-Gariaband-Nuapada Division. The Naxals had buried the money and weapons to prevent their destruction and had reportedly issued threats to reclaim the seized funds. The discovery underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat Naxal insurgency and dismantle their logistical and financial support structures.
