After being locked in a room for eight days, the police rescued a man from Bijepur Sahi at Adaba police station in Gajapati district. The man, identified as Konstantin Parichha, had been beaten and confined by his wife, Prana Ranjani Parichha, and her family.
The couple had reportedly been fighting for a long time. According to allegations, Prana Ranjani frequently tortured her husband. Days ago, she and her father’s family locked Kastantin in a room, beat him severely, and deprived him of food. Kastantin’s elder brother, Parshuram Parichha, learned about the incident through a source and alerted the local sarpanch and police.
Police, along with local representatives, rushed to the house and freed Konstantin. His condition was critical due to the beatings and prolonged starvation. Medical staff at Birikot Health Centre provided initial treatment before referring him to Mohana Medical Centre. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to Brahmapur for advanced care.
Doctors reported multiple bruises on Kastantin’s body and noted his deteriorated mental state. Attempts to contact Prana Ranjani for her comments on the incident were unsuccessful. Meanwhile, Parshuram Parichha has demanded strict action against her and her family for the abuse.
