Torrential rains have already disrupted life in various parts of Odisha, and conditions are set to worsen. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted the formation of a low-pressure area on the 7th, which is expected to further increase rainfall across the state.
A warning for heavy to very heavy rain has been issued for northern and coastal regions of Odisha for the next four days. The IMD predicts that rainfall could reach between 115 to 204 mm in some areas by Wednesday. Today, a yellow warning has been issued for 17 districts due to expected heavy rainfall. These districts include Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada, and Koraput.
Rainfall of 7 to 11 cm is anticipated in these areas, with additional risks of lightning, thunder, and intense rainfalls. Residents are advised to stay alert and prepare for adverse weather conditions over the coming days.
