
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre in Bhubaneswar has forecasted a significant increase in maximum temperatures across Odisha districts over the next four days, with a rise of 3-5 Degrees Celsius expected.
According to the mid-day bulletin issued by the IMD, maximum temperatures have already witnessed a marked rise at some locations in South Coastal Odisha & North Interior Odisha, and appreciable increases have been noted at most places in North Interior Odisha. Additionally, many places in North Coastal Odisha are experiencing a noticeable rise, while a few places in South Odisha are also seeing an uptick. However, there have been no significant changes elsewhere across Odisha. Temperature variations have been observed, with some places experiencing temperatures markedly below normal, appreciably below normal, or above normal.
Looking ahead, the temperature forecast indicates a continued rise in maximum temperatures by 3°C to 5°C over the next four days in many areas of Odisha, with no significant change expected thereafter. Similarly, minimum temperatures are projected to increase by 2°C to 3°C over the next five days in numerous districts of Odisha.
Notable temperature readings include a maximum temperature of 37.0°C recorded at Malkangiri and a minimum temperature of 16.5°C recorded at Sundargarh in the plains of Odisha.
For Sunday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 24.03.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 25.03.2024), Weather conditions are anticipated to remain unchanged, with dry weather persisting across Odisha districts.
