
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre in Bhubaneswar has forecasted that a trough extending from north Chhattisgarh to north interior Karnataka, now stretching from interior Odisha, is expected to bring light to moderate rain or thundershowers to one or two places across the districts of Odisha over the next seven days.
In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD centre noted an appreciable rise in maximum temperatures at a few places in North Coastal Odisha, as well as at one or two places in South Coastal Odisha and North Interior Odisha. There was no significant change elsewhere across the districts of Odisha. Minimum temperatures also saw an appreciable rise at a few places in South Coastal Odisha, one or two places in North Odisha, and remained largely unchanged elsewhere in the region. Some areas in Interior Odisha experienced temperatures below normal, while others saw marked and appreciable rises. Coastal areas experienced above-normal temperatures, with many places seeing normal conditions.
Temperature forecasts indicate that maximum daytime temperatures are likely to rise by 2°C to 4°C over the next 24 hours, followed by a subsequent fall of 2°C to 3°C at many places across the districts of Odisha. However, there is expected to be no significant change in the minimum nighttime temperatures.
The highest recorded maximum temperature of 38.1°C was observed at Paralekhamundi, while the lowest minimum temperature of 18.4°C was recorded at Sundargarh in the plains of Odisha.
For Wednesday, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are anticipated at one or two places across the districts of Coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Boudh. Dry weather is expected to prevail over the remaining districts of Odisha.
Looking ahead to Thursday, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are forecasted at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Keonjhar, while dry weather is expected across the rest of the districts of Odisha.
