Peel Regional Police (PRP) announced the arrest of Inderjeet Gosal, a prominent figure linked to the Khalistani movement in Canada, on charges related to a violent attack on a Hindu temple in Brampton.
Gosal, known for his close ties to Gurpatwant Pannun, the general counsel of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), is accused of being involved in the violent invasion of the Hindu Sabha Temple on November 3, 2024. He has been charged with Assault with a Weapon following the incident and was later released on conditions. Gosal is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton at a later date.
Gosal, who took over the leadership of the Khalistani referendum efforts in Canada after the death of Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar on June 18, 2023, has been a key figure in promoting the Khalistani cause in the country. Before Nijjar’s death, Gosal worked closely with him in organizing Khalistani activities.
The violence at the Hindu temple has been linked to ongoing tensions surrounding the Khalistani movement, particularly after the murder of Najjar. The incident has strained diplomatic relations between India and Canada, further exacerbated by the protests and attacks that followed.

In August 2024, Canadian police issued a warning to Gosal about a heightened threat to his life. The warning was reportedly based on violent criminal activities directed at pro-Khalistan elements. Despite the threats, Gosal reaffirmed his commitment to the Khalistani movement, as confirmed by Gurpatwant Pannun.
Chandra Arya, a Member of Parliament in Canada, condemned the attack on Hindu devotees at the temple, denouncing the involvement of Khalistani extremists. Arya also criticized the portrayal of the incident as a Hindu-Sikh issue by certain political figures.
The situation remains under investigation, and authorities are continuing to monitor the developments.
