India Announces Squad for T20 World Cup 2024

The India squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled to take place in the Caribbean and USA this June, has been announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Sanju Samson secures a spot in the 15-member team, while notable omissions include KL Rahul, with Rinku Singh featuring as a travelling reserve.

Rohit Sharma is confirmed to lead the side, with Hardik Pandya named as vice-captain despite recent struggles with his bowling. Surprisingly, Virat Kohli retains his place in the team, contrary to earlier reports suggesting otherwise. Yuzvendra Chahal earns selection, offering hope for his T20 World Cup debut, edging out Ravi Bishnoi.

In the reserve slots, Shubman Gill joins Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, and Avesh Khan. Despite a mixed performance in the IPL 2024 season, Mohammed Siraj secures a spot in the primary squad representing India in the USA and the Caribbean.

India kicks off their T20 World Cup campaign against Ireland on June 5 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York. A highly anticipated clash against Pakistan follows on June 9, with subsequent group fixtures against USA and Canada on June 12 and June 15, respectively.

The India squad for T20 World Cup 2024 comprises Rohit Sharma (Captain), Hardik Pandya (Vice Captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohd.
