On Wednesday, India witnessed an increase of 412 new Covid cases, elevating the active cases to 4,093, as reported by the Health Ministry. The death toll rose by three, with fatalities reported in Karnataka and Gujarat, reaching a total of 5,33,340 deaths from the viral disease, according to the ministry’s update.
India’s overall Covid case count now stands at 4,50,10,189, boasting a national recovery rate of 98.81 percent, while the fatality rate hovers at 1.19 percent, as per the ministry’s website. A notable concern arises with the emergence of the COVID-19 sub-variant JN.1, detecting a total of 109 cases in India by Wednesday.
Goa leads in contributing the highest number of cases, reporting a surge of 34 cases in a single day on Monday. The latest 24-hour data reveals 36 new variant cases in Gujarat, 34 in Karnataka, 14 in Goa, 9 in Maharashtra, 6 in Kerala, 4 in Rajasthan, 4 in Tamil Nadu, and 2 in Telangana, according to sources cited by ANI.
Fortunately, there is relief as the reported cases do not exhibit clustering in specific areas, and most JN.1 subvariant cases display mild symptoms. The total active Covid-19 cases in the country stand at 4,054, with Kerala having the highest number of cases, including 37 in Goa, 344 in Karnataka, 3,128 in Kerala, and 50 in Maharashtra, according to Health Ministry data.
