India’s First Medal in Paris: Manu Bhaker Secures Bronze

Star shooter Manu Bhaker has created history by winning a bronze medal in the women’s 10m air pistol event at the Paris Olympics 2024. This achievement marks India’s first medal in the Paris Olympics and comes during Manu’s second Olympic appearance. She secured the bronze with a score of 221.7.

The 22-year-old shooter advanced to the finals by scoring 580 in the qualification round, finishing third. Manu’s consistent performance in the qualification series saw her score 97, 97, 98, 96, 96, and 96 points. This marks the first time since 2004 that India has reached the finals of a women’s individual shooting event in the Olympics.

Manu Bhaker’s bronze medal is a significant milestone for India in the Paris Olympics. She finished in third place with a score of 160.9, while Tokyo bronze medallist Ranxin Jiang of China secured sixth place.
