ISKCON Defies Gajapati Maharaj’s Orders, Holds ‘Festival of Bliss’ in Houston

Despite the controversy, ISKCON proceeded with the ‘Festival of Bliss’ in Houston, defying previous orders. Yesterday, ISKCON organized a one-day event, constructing a chariot resembling Nandighosha but featuring a statue of Radha Krishna instead of Lord Jagannath. This action upset orthodox Jagannath devotees.

ISKCON initially agreed to cancel the event after the Maharaja of Gajapati instructed them not to proceed, but the organization went ahead with the chariot procession. The move has sparked strong criticism from Jagannath devotees and Sevayats. Senior Sevayat Binayak Dasmahapatra accused ISKCON of acting arbitrarily by conducting the Ghosh Yatra and Bath Yatra without permission and replacing Lord Jagannath with Radha Krishna.

Despite multiple letters from Gajapati Maharaj, ISKCON ignored the protests, leading devotees to consider legal action. The management committee will discuss the matter, with supporters pledging to support Gajapati Maharaj’s actions.
