Israel-Hamas conflict: Hamas got Iran’s support in the war

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei recently stressed his country’s enduring policy of supporting Palestinian resistance forces against Israel in a meeting with Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

Khamenei met with Hamas political bureau chief Haniyeh and his accompanying delegation in the Iranian capital Tehran, according to a statement published on the leader’s website on Sunday, without specifying the date of the meeting.

Khamenei praised the people of Gaza for their patience and resistance, and strongly condemned Israel’s crimes, which are being carried out with the direct support of the United States and some Western countries, Xinhua news agency reported. He also called on Muslim countries and the international community to take serious steps and provide comprehensive and practical support to the people of Gaza.

According to the statement, during the meeting, Haniyeh presented a report on the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, as well as Israeli crimes against the coastal region. 9,770 Palestinians have died in Gaza due to the Israel-Hamas conflict that has been going on for almost a month. More than 1,400 Israelis lost their lives, most of them died in the Hamas military operation on October 7, sparking the ongoing conflict.

As part of the ongoing war against Hamas, Israel has divided the coastal strip into two parts by siege of Gaza City. Communications services in Gaza were disrupted again for the third time on Sunday. Due to the breakdown of communication services, it has become difficult to convey information about the new phase of the military operation to the people. Earlier, Israeli warplanes attacked two refugee camps in the central Gaza Strip on Sunday, killing at least 53 people and injuring many. Gaza health officials gave this information. As part of his Middle East diplomacy on the Israel-Hamas conflict, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Sunday visited Ramallah in the occupied West Bank and met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
