The Israeli army has conducted a surgical strike targeting Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukra in Beirut. The attack resulted in Shukra’s death. The U.S. government had previously announced a $5 million reward for information leading to Shukra’s capture.

Lebanese security sources have not yet confirmed details regarding Shukra’s status. Shukra, a long-time Hezbollah operative, served as a military adviser to the group’s Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah. He was also implicated in the 1983 attack on the U.S. Marine Corps barracks in Beirut, which killed 241 American soldiers. Additionally, Shukra was held responsible for an assault on the Golan Heights.

On Saturday, a rocket attack on a soccer field in the Golan Heights killed 12 children and teenagers. In response, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that Majdal was the commander responsible for the attack on the soccer field and other Israeli casualties. The IDF subsequently launched an airstrike on Beirut.
