Jaganmohan Reddy’s Liquor Policy Under Fire

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy’s government has been accused of causing a loss of Rs 18,860 crore to the state exchequer over the last five years due to its liquor policy. The allegations come as Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal faces arrest and jail time in a separate liquor corruption case.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has vowed to order a CID investigation into the alleged corruption, stating that the YSRCP government’s intentions were not to phase out liquor as promised, but to serve personal interests. Naidu alleged that the Jaganmohan government made numerous changes to the liquor policy, resulting in consistently lower revenue collections compared to neighboring states Karnataka and Telangana.

Naidu announced plans to reorganize the unemployment department in the state, citing the need for reform. The allegations against Jaganmohan Reddy’s government have sparked a new wave of controversy, with opposition leaders calling for accountability transparency in the state’s liquor policy.
