Jhansi Medical College Tragedy: 10 Children Killed in Fire, CM Orders Probe

A devastating fire broke out in the children’s ward of Jhansi Medical College, Uttar Pradesh, last night, claiming the lives of 10 children. Several others suffered severe burns in the tragic incident, which has shocked the entire nation.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, deeply moved by the tragedy, expressed his condolences to the bereaved families. He announced an ex-gratia of ₹5 lakh for each family that lost a child and ₹50,000 for those seriously injured.

Responding promptly, the Chief Minister dispatched Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and the Principal Secretary of the Health Department to the scene. He has also ordered a high-level investigation into the cause of the fire, with instructions to submit a report within 12 hours.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak confirmed that the investigation would be conducted in three stages: an initial probe by the health department, followed by inquiries by the police and fire departments, and a final inspection by the Magistrate. He assured that anyone found responsible for negligence would face strict punishment.

President Droupadi Murmu also conveyed her grief over the incident, offering condolences to the families of the deceased and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured children.

This horrific event has sparked widespread sorrow and demands for accountability across the country.
