Kalinga Super Cup will be held in Odisha from January 9

The All India Football Federation on Wednesday announced that the Kalinga Super Cup will be held in Odisha from January 9, 2024. The matches of the tournament are planned to be held at two different venues in Odisha. Both the Indian Super League and I-League teams have been invited to participate in the annual tournament.

The format of the tournament will have four groups of four teams each, which will play single leg matches among themselves. The group winners will qualify for the semi-finals, followed by the final on January 28, 2024.

All India Football Federation President ( AIFF) Kalyan Choubey said, “The decision we had taken earlier. According to him, the annual Super Cup tournament will now be organized in a bigger and broader perspective. The tournament will now be known as Kalinga Super Cup and will be played in Odisha in January 2024. This is a positive development for Indian domestic football. I am confident that the Kalinga Super Cup will be a huge hit both in terms of events and spectator interest.”

I-League teams will play qualifiers to reach the group stage of the Kalinga Super Cup where four spots have been reserved for them in the group stage. The champions of the Kalinga Super Cup will be nominated to play in the ACL 2 preliminary stage of the AFC 2023–24 season.
