Bollywood actress and Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut has stirred controversy with her latest comments about Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who recently made headlines for her historic performance at the Paris Olympics 2024. Phogat, competing in the women’s 50 kg category, secured a place in the finals by defeating Cuban wrestler Yusnilis Guzman, ensuring a silver medal for herself.
While Phogat has been widely celebrated for her achievement, Kangana Ranaut took a different approach. On Instagram, Kangana shared a post featuring a photo of Phogat with the Indian tricolor, accompanied by a message that critiqued her past actions. Kangana wrote, “I pray that India gets its first gold. Vinesh Phogat participated in a movement and raised slogans against Modi. Despite this, she got the opportunity to represent the country, receiving the best training, coaching, and facilities. This is the beauty of democracy and the mark of a good leader.”

Kangana’s remarks have sparked a viral response on social media. It is worth noting that Vinesh Phogat had previously filed sexual harassment charges against former Indian Wrestling Federation chief Brij Bhushan Singh Sharan and led protests against him, which had sidelined her from wrestling for a period.
